Welp...I've been a fishkeeper for all of three weeks and I just bought my second tank...

I just couldn't help myself.

First tank is 46g bowfront with gravel, artificial plants and ornaments. 12 tetras so far.

Got a new tank today. 10 gallon marineland aquarium kit. I got CaribSea eco complete substrate, a nice piece of driftwood and it will be a planted tank. It will home a few guppies eventually to appease the girlfriend (couldn't put them in the 46).

Help.

I now have 4 tanks. My 4th was one for any fry as have pregnant guppies. One had fry on Friday and managed to save quite a few. It's definitely real. I'm on the look out for a 5th rather large tank now. X

Have fun with MTS! It's a real money drainer. I have four tanks (10, 2.5, 29, 5) as of now and I began in January. But you got it bad, friend.

There is no cure, FYI.

MTS is a real phenomenon. It can be catching... When your family knows you as the crazy fish lady-instead of the crazy cat lady you know you have it bad. Or is that only in my head. With 14 tanks mostly species specific and planted it is a full time job. I am thinking of slowly downsizing but that comes and goes. LOL . It is hard to decide which would go. Then I see some new fish I want and anyone with MTS knows what happens-new fish with a hint of new tank but lately it has been filling some of my more empty tanks. There is no cure. LOL

Oh. It's real.

February 1, got first tank setup on craigslist (29 gallon).
February 5, started cycle.
February 24, added fish.
March, design shrimp cube (7.5 gallon).
March 31, start that cycle.
April 11, add shrimp to shrimp tank.

I have a 10 gallon in the wings (previously a quarantine). I have a 4-5 gallon sterilite hospital. I cleaned a 55 gallon yesterday and am resealing it today. I have a 125 with canopy/stand in the garage and now have to park in the driveway, waiting to be cleaned and resealed. Also, local petco has $/gal sale through August 8 and I'm debating a 40B or 55 for my next project.

Basically, I get my fix by upgrading. I've upgraded the 29 gallon into a flourishing planted community tank. Transitioned all fake plants to real. Added lighting on timers. Added CO2... The MTS is there, but I've been mitigating it with upgrades and constant fixing of my current tanks. I'm also refurbishing/cleaning an eheim 2217 canister filter I got for $20. It works, but needs some love.

Next project is to either turn the 10 into a species only brackish bumblebee goby tank, or turn the 55 into a brackish community of sorts with bumblebee gobies and potentially orange chromides... or I suppose I could get a 20L from the petco sale and do a species only bbg tank there... uh oh... there's that feeling again...

the only reason I have 1 tank is that my mom won't let me have another yet. Lol!

I have 5 and I'm 13.
65 gallon- 2 young oscars, 2 blue gouramis, 3 silver dollars, and a rope fish. I plan on separating the oscars.
20 gallon- tiger barbs
10 gallon- cycling for a betta
1 gallon- free fry from Petsmart
And an empty 10 gallon for when the fry get bigger. Fish keeping is a crazy world!!

Welp ... I sealed my 55 today. I'll know in about 48 hours if it's a good seal, then I'll have to look at if it will work as a fish tank or not! (haha) Pretty sure it was made as a terrarium. But I LOVE the dimensions. It's not 13 wide, but 15.5 and only 17 tall instead of 21. So it's shorter but has more bottom space... great for, I don't know, bumblebee gobies or shellies or kuhlis or cories or ...

Check the thickness of the glass. That may be the limiting factor if it was built as a terrarium.

It's either 5 mm or 6 mm, I can't tell. If it's 6mm then - sort of.

I plan to measure it with a straightedge before and after filling to see if it bows or not. If it does bow, then I might build an external wood canopy/frame for it with a crossbrace.
