Moving Luna The Betta

Fanatic
  • #1
So, with the aging of my betta, it's time to move on and change things. Fanatic is getting old in his days, and now all he wants to do is sit on the bottom, while occasionally going to get air. I have two bettas in the tank, it's a divided ten gallon.

I keep Luna in a 2.5 gallon tank, and I think he should have the ten gallon alone to himself. For the other betta, he'll be moving down to the 2.5, as he doesn't like the tank at all.

Anything that I should do for Fanatic, or should I just treat him normally with the same schedule I have always done?

I would treat him normally as he isn't sick or anything right now

I'd treat him normally.

If you're set to moving them down to a 2.5 (which is fine for a betta, imo, although 5.5 are better) I'd try to keep conditions about the same. Try to find a filter that's going to provide about the same amount of flow, a heater that's going to keep the water about the same temp as the big tank, etc. If he's older, then add some decor or plants that are near the surface of the water so he can rest near the surface.

Thanks, I will do that. I am moving my healthy white betta down to to 2.5 gallon, but I might just move Fanatic down until I see improvement, or sadly if he doesn't live.
I have a good filter and heater, so it'll be just fine

Updates, here's what today has...

Fanatic is getting lazier by the day, and barely wants to come up for air anymore.
I'll be moving him to a smaller tank, with lower water to allow easy access to the surface.

My white male is moving to Luna's 2.5 gallon, where he likes it better.
Luna is moving into the newly rescaped 10 gallon alone, after I fix it today.
