Moving fish tanks has got to be the worst thing!

HI fish keepers

Just thought I'd see everyones experience with moving tanks?

I just moved mine from my office to my house (finally) and it was one heck of a day

My tank is a 4foot 120G with 2x canister filters

Got to the office at 6.45am. I was feeling excited at this stage. Started draining the tank into 2x 150L storage tubs but I only filled them half way because I was scared the tubs couldn't handle all the water.

After about 20mins of "fishing" I managed to get all fish into the tubs with battery operated aerators.

At this stage (8.45am) I had to drain the remaining water which didn't take too long. Finally I was ready to for the fun part. Moving the actual tank

Here's the thing though. My office is on the second floor and the tank weighs about 140kgs (with sand in it) and its a awkward lift too lol

Anyway me and my 3 friends managed to get the tank onto a cart and wheeled it to the nearest window where a forklift with a pallet is waiting. (Stairs weren't really a option). Finally got the tank onto the pallet and into my van with one of the tubs with me and the other with my friend.

On the way to my place it was a scary 40min ride with a few bumps along the way. We both had water splash around in our vehicles but not enough to cause any serious damage.

Finally got to my place around 12pm and we were close lol. I'm on ground level so it was easy to get set up again. I was pretty much all done by about 1.15pm and my friends couldn't get out of there fast enough haha

It was quite an experience. One that I don't plan on repeating anytime soon. Hard to tell but I was one heck of an emotional ride the whole. Just love those little guys lol. Happy to say all are doing well too

Anyone else been through this and how was it?

P.s sorry for the long story

Dang that sounds like one heck of an adventure. I haven't yet, but like people say,"once you put a tank somewhere that's where it's going to stay." And you moved a 120gal tank?!

Good lord lol that's quite the undertaking! Bet it's instantly worth it though, having that bad boy at home with you. Pics once everything is settled in the new placement!

I hope you at least provided pizza and beer for your friends' help! I think that's the traditional mover's feast

Sounds like quite the adventure! I'll stop whining about how much work it is to move a 5 gallon;D
