Moving fish from bigger tank to smaller tank?

Hi! I am at college and I have been thinking about moving my betta to live here in my dorm with me. He was previously here in a 2.5 gallon but I took him home to live in a new 10 gallon (he is by himself and loving the extra space). I have grown to miss him being here, so I was wondering if I could move him to a 5 gallon tank and bring him back, which would also help me keep up with water changes.

Will this stress him out? He really loves his new tank and I would hate to make him depressed or something by moving him to a smaller one. If it would bother him I definitely will leave him at home.

If anyone has any insight or advice I would really appreciate it! Thank you

Would it just be him by himself? If so, I think that would be fine. Especially if he will be getting more attention

It’s very doable to move the whole ten gallon if you wanted. If you need to keep a lot of your desk space, you could probably find a metal stand on Facebook yard sale and other such sites like that

Yes, he would be just by himself! I don’t have any other fish (YET )

I looked into it and even measured it out in the dorm but unfortunately there isn’t enough room anywhere for anything, except a little 12x12 spot on my desk.
