Mouth Fungus On Betta Fish

Hi, I'm new here, and I decided to make an account since Google wasn't giving me the answer to my question. I own a Betta fish that's about a year (maybe a year and a half) old, and today I noticed some white stuff hanging off of him just above his mouth. After a bit of searching, I found that he might have mouth fungus and I could use Amoxicillin to treat him. Is this true? If so, the only Amoxicillin I have is tablets (It says Amox-Clav 875-125 on the bottle). Can I use that for him?

I normally change the water fully once a month, and I don't really have a way of checking anything but the temperature with is at 70°F.

How big is the tank and are there any tank mates?
What do you use as dechlorinator?

The tank is 1 Gallon, and I use Top Fin Tap Water Dechlorinator. There are no other fish in the tank.

Yikes, your betta is in a tough situation. The tank is too small for him and the lack of water changes likely is the reason why he developed what he has.

I would look for meds that treat fungus, like API Fungus cure...but I would also look into a bigger tank, like a 10 gallon tank.

Also frequent water changes help promote healthy fish and helps healing. Once a month isn't going to cut it, especially in a 1 gallon tank.

Got it. Thank you!
