Moss Ball????

Now I’ve been thinking of getting a Marimo Moss Ball to help with my tank. Since I feed a lot, I have to do water changes a lot! So I’ve been thinking of getting one. But one question, If I think my Marimo Moss Ball is dirty, Do I take it out of my aquarium instead of cleaning my aquarium as well? Or do I have to do a water change if I take my Moss Ball out?

To clean the moss ball all you do is swish it and rub it around in some tank water. I usually squeeze it a few times also to get all the gunk out. You'll have to still clean your tank as you normally would, but not necessarily every time your moss ball looks dirty.

Thanks! I’ve been wondering if I need to because I normally change my tank 2-3 weeks and I was worried because I already ordered it online and I thought I made a huge mistake because I didn’t research a lot of it.

No problem! I don't have to clean mine much, maybe like once every two weeks or so. You'll know when it's time. You'll be able to see gunk building up on it. If you have shrimp like I do they'll help to clean the moss as well

Yeah, I woke up this morning dropping two pelletes in his tank until I noticed he’s not interested.. I look at his stomach and it was full!

By the way, How long can you go without a water change? A month?? 2 weeks???

Water changes are to be made once a week, at least.. Any longer and you'll risk spikes and dead fish.

Eep, I never really clean my moss ball. I just rotate it every few weeks or so, so it keeps its shape. Maybe I should start ‘cleaning’ it more.

I do a water change weekly, but I have a 20 gallon that's heavily planted. I can get away with doing every other week.
