Mopani wood question time sensitive kind of!

WagglePets

So I have a nice piece of mopani wood in my 10 gallon for awhile now and now i want that piece in my 5.5 gallon cause it has lots of spaces for cherry shrimp and I’m setting up a cherry shrimp tank well the only issue is it’s COVERED in pest snails. I don’t want pest snails in my 5.5 gallon is boiling the wood enough? I can’t tell but oh my goodness it’s probably covered in eggs. Or should I just “try” and find another piece at the store even though I really like this piece.

if boiling is the answer how long?

Boiling the Mopani will kill all the benificial bacteria on it.
Maybe just scrape visible eggs off.
Careful feeding should eventually starve out the unwanted snails.
If you choose to boil it, five minutes should be enough.
