Mopani wood bought from reptile expo: is it safe to use in an aquarium?

I bought this piece from the local reptile expo a few months ago for my bearded dragons, they both decided that it was not good enough for their needs. They've never pooped on it, only barely touched it. Would it still be okay to use in my 20 gallon as long as I boiled it for a while? If so, how long should I boil it?

I would boil it, changing the water often. When water stops turning brown I would say you are good to go.

As mentioned I suggest you wash it and brush it first. Then soak it for a few hours! If the water turns brown then dump the water and soak again! Do this a couple of days until the water is clear or light yellow. There is no time limit with drift wood since different drift wood have different times to stop releasing the tannins. Sometimes you have small ones that takes weeks or month while some big ones take days.

Agree with both posts and it does look like a very attractive piece of drift wood. Tie some anabius or ferns to that and it will look awesome
