Hey so I have succesfully gotten my hands on a 40 breeder for my bedroom, I've got my filtration figured out (eheim 250), and Im building the stand. I already bought the wood for the hard scape as well, a faily dark assortment of mopani wood. I think I've got my sights on using eco complete, I just dont know which color will be best.

The black eco complete really pops against plants, and I've never used dark substrate myself but I've heard it does wonders for fish coloration. but will the black be too much in coordination with the dark wood? Could I add some lighter color rock to help? Or should I go with the red eco complete, as it looks more natural and might look better with the wood??
