Moonlight Gourami v Blue Gourami

I am a huge gourami fan... in a 37G, I have a 2 DG (1 male, 1 female), a Honey Gourami, and a sparkling gourami (just added, a juvenile). They are all getting along famously, the Honey and the male DG even "sleep" in the same corner of the tank together. I also have a 75G, and I am prepared to move one of the males if the harmony breaks down. The Honey is one of the most peaceful fish I have ever kept -- keeps to himself generally, but very friendly with any other fish in the vicinity.

I have a new 75G that currently has ZD and 4 juvenile guppies. I want to add some slightly larger but peaceful fish. I am thinking about a small school of BosemanI rainbow, an angel, and a larger gourami. To that end, is a moonlight gourmI likely to be more peaceful than a blue gourami? I love their color and size, and from what I can tell, they seem to be on the more peaceful end of the spectrum. There seems to be very little on the moonlights on this forum...

Thanks!

From what I know they are pretty peaceful with other fish and timid. However, I have seen a group of them beat up on a sunset thicklip gourami. But generally they are regarded as peaceful.

You'll have some temp compatibility issues if you have zebra danios and are planning to add angelfish and the rainbowfish. Moonlights and Pearl gouramis would probably be more peaceful than the Blues.

Zebra danios aren't temp compatible with moonlight gouramis (or BoesemanI or angelfish), and there's not much overlap with them and the three spot gourami either.

I'd rehome the zebra danios and do something like this:

1-2x Angelfish
6-10x Boesemani
1-4x Moonlight gouramis

Watch the moonlights closely - the rainbowfish might be too boisterous for them. If that's the case, I'd go with another schooling fish.

TexasDomer, you are a font of knowledge! I will rehome the zebras in my old 37G. I am picking up some fish this afternoon. I like your stocking idea. With the moonlights, can I assume you are saying that you believe I can have more than 1 male in the aquarium without the issues I might have with, say, more than 1 male DG? Thank you in advance!

I'd go with one male and multiple females. Two males may be okay in a tank that big, but I wouldn't risk it.

TexasDomer thanks for your advice. I'm scared to add fish too fast as the tank is less than a month old (apparently cycled, though, testing great). I added 6 rainbows, they are amazing. Probably my favorite fish so far!!!
