Monster Shrimp?

I bought some "ghost" shrimps from the pet store... Didn't see them for the most part... until some of my fishes (guppies) went missing. I couldn't figure out where they went.... until monster shrimp revealed himself.
Looks like a tiny clear lobster, or a giant ghost shrimp. He ate my fish! What the heck!
Haven't been able to get a clear photo of him yet (he hides really really well). I took him out of my tank and now he's in a tank with plenty of plants in it and no fish. He's like, three inches long! Now I know where my guppies went!
I've attached some photos of some similar looking creatures. These are NOT my photos, but they are pretty close as to what mine looks like.

I know the one above is a crawfish, and that is kind of what he looks like, except clearer and with more antenna. I don't know what this is, and I'm kind of angry about it! It's not like he ate any rare fish or anything, but these are my pets and I cared about them! I'm glad I didn't have him in any of my other tanks. Guess I'm sticking with cherry shrimp now!

That's a risk you take when you buy ghost shrimp. Ghost shrimp isn't actually a species but rather a grouping of a few different species. Often times big chain pet shops will sell young Macrobrachium sp. shrimp as ghost shrimp.. which eventually grow up and ruin your tank. Google Macrobrachium and see if any of the results match your mystery shrimp.

Sorry you had this happen :/ .

ghost shrimp don't get this big or that aggressive. they were probably mislabeled.

Thank you... I actually didn't know that! I will not be buying any ghost shrimp, then. Unless from a trusted source.

EDIT: It was Macrobrachium!! With the blue pinchers and everything. Thank you for helping me ID my monster shrimp.

Might I suggest Amano/Yamato (same thing) Shrimp.

They are completely peaceful, great waste/algae eaters, grow max 2 inches and in optimal conditions can live around 6 years.

I guess so! It would be nice if pet stores confirmed their creatures before selling them instead of just selling them.

haha yes that would be nice but sadly petstores don't always care that much about it or know that they did
