Money tree insight

Hey!

So we got this money tree about a year ago and it’s gotten very large, and we know it’s not gonna fit in the house much longer. Unfortunately it’s just a bit cold here to plant it in the ground... we think.

I live in hardiness zone 8, and the recommended zone for the money tree to thrive is zones 9-11 (sometimes 10-11 or 10-12)
The money tree can’t survive hard frosts. However, it doesn’t get that cold here... the coldest it got this winter was maybe 20F, and it didn’t even snow this year.

So, I just want to see what you guys think. It would make our lives a lot easier if we could plant it in the ground. Lol.

Money trees are sub-tropical, and below freezing temperatures will kill your Money tree. I have a juvenile(if you can even call a plant that), and it sits in my sunroom. I can try to come up with some ideas, but for now can I please please see a pic of it? I realllly want to see a big money tree now.

Yeah, anything below freezing will kill it. They respond very well to pruning though. I hack the top off mine every year because it grows so fast. You can easily take off a third of the growth, maybe more, without any problems.

Only if it keeps sprouting new leaves as you pick them!!!

The first picture is when I first got it, around 11 months ago to be specific

And these next pictures I just took. I made my cat stand next to it for size reference (he is small-average sized, like 12 pounds)

The tree right now is in my moms office, but it grew suuuuper quick last year because we had it on the deck during the summer, basically in the perfect spot. My back deck is covered by trees, but not too much so my money tree got indirect sunlight all day, and in the humid climate of south carolina? a VERY happy tree it was

It’s getting a little big for it’s pot, but we repotted it like 6 months ago so we’ll probably wait just a little bit.

Nice! I'm jealous of how happy it looks. You should be able to cut it to about 2/3 of this height. Just cut at the leaf nodes, and new branches will emerge from there.
