I just wanted to give a shout out to mollies, they are a truly amazing fish. They are beautiful and clean all my plants and very peaceful too.....I will probably always keep them in my tanks. I just don't think they get enough recognition. Balloon Mollies....forget about it lol. 10 years in......still learning

I only like black mollies. I found them to be peaceful in bigger tanks but the smaller the tank the more aggresive they seem to be.

I was thinking of adding some to my 29 gallon, but I've heard they can be aggressive to other Livebearers and longer finned fish. Also Mamastacia3 the balloon mollies are only in that shape because of a genetic deformity. Most balloon Molly's don't live that long.

They are good, I have 4 males and all they do is clean plants all day. I haven't seen them mess with any fish in my community tank. I had 2 mollies before in a 29 that chase each other but they were always together a lot like my GBR. They just behave that way, I didn't know they were short lived because they are deformed.

My 2 balloon mollies have been doing really well for the last 4 months. I know their balloon appearance is the result of genetic deformity, but it seems my ballooon mollies look very active and healthy.
My experience with mollies is only limited to balloon mollies but they are my favorite fish in the tank. I heard horror stories of aggressive mollies, but my 2 dalmatian balloon females have been very docile. When they lose competition to get food from other fish, they usually remain calm and wait patiently. My platy, on the other hand, started attacking guppies after learning that she kept losing chance to get enough food.

I like balloon mollies because they look so adorable and unique though I realize that balloon mollies are the result of genetic deformity. Ive managed to raise a male balloon molly since birth and its fun to watch his weird shape growing. I dont want to rescue balloon fries anymore after learning that balloon mollies are deformities, but its been a lovely experience seeing the growth of balloon molly with its weird looking spine and the fries are so cute. Plus, I didnt expect that the fry would turn out to be a sailfin though sadly he was born with bent spine.

I dont recommend mollies for aquascapers because they have a habit of pulling out plants. Ofcourse, the solution is to only have firm plants but that means more limited choice of plants for aquascapers.
