Mollies and platies having too many babies!!

Okay I started out with 2 male mollies and 2 female mollies. They keep having babies!! I have around 30+ molly babies!! I also have 1 male platty and 2 female platty. I really need to separate the male from female although I do know that they can still have babies after they are seperated. At least I will have them away from each other and eventually they will not get pregnant! What I need to know is when moving fish to another tank that has higher/lower nitrates, will it affect the fish? One tank is between 0-5 in the nitrates and the other tank is between 5-10. I will be taking 1 platty out of the 0-5 nitrates and moving him to the tank that has 5-10 nitrates. I also need to take 2 fish from the 5-10 nitrates tank and move them to the 0-5 nitrates tank. Will this affect them in any way? The ph is the same in both tanks as is the temp. Both tanks are cycled also. All these babies are in a breeder net in my 30 gal. I also have 3 guppies,4 mollies and a cory in there. I know I am overstocked now because of the babies but actually how long do you think I have before my tank is in trouble? Thanks guys

I really need advice on moving mollies and platties to higher and lower nitrates tank. Come on guys, I need your help,please.....

I move fish from tank to tank without worry. It's perfectly safe for you - there really isn't much difference between 5 and 10. Nitrates need to be MUCH higher before you have anything to be concerned about

Oh ok thanks jaysee! Another question I have is I am moving my male platty to my 30 gal with the female mollies, that will be ok right? The only thing that concerns me is taking my 2 male mollies and putting them in the 10 gal platty tank. There will be only 2 platties along with the 2 male mollies I will be adding. I know a 10 gal is small but that's all I have to put them in for now. They will have to stay in the 10 gal until I get my other 30 gals emptied out. What do you think?

If it's a short term fix, then I don;t see a problem with it. I would keep an eye out for aggression from the mollies, though.

Ok I will watch them because I know a smaller tank could lead to aggression. Thank you so much jaysee!!!!!!

Jaysee, I moved the fish to their new tanks and all seems well so far. I have to admit that one of the female mollies gave me a bit of a run!!! I finally got her and allseems well! Thanks for all your advice!

2 things I'll suggest for catching fish - you really want to get them as quickly as possible to avoid stressing them, as well as to prevent injuries. First, get a big net. It really is easier to catch fish with a bigger net. Second, it's much easier to catch fish after you've removed the water from the tank

if you are handy you can divide the tank with a piece of glass. It does not need to siliconed in so you can remove it when you want
