Mollies and Platies...Fighting or playing?

Not sure if these two are fighting or playing. We just got them last wednesday and the platy keeps chasing the orange molly all over the tank. Cut to friday and dead molly at the bottom of the tank. wasn't sure if it was dead because of fighting but when I put her in the quarantine tank with the other three she looked weird. At first I thought....is this fish blind or something? She was bumping in to stuff and ignoring the food. So now sunday we get a new molly and now the platy is bugging her. So I don't know how do you know if they are playing or fighting?

 

Maybe they are mating, they are both livebearers so they might be trying to mate, or are they in a small tank maybe?Good luck!

 

That's what I thought at first, maybe trying to mate because the other Molly is following her around too....and I say her but I have no idea if its a her or a him. Do platys try to mate with Mollies? I don't know. There were only 4 fish in a ten gal so I'm sure they all have enough room

 

I wouldn't put mollies in a 10g. I had three in a ten gallon and the male was super agressive.

 

they are only in there for quarantine, they have a 55 gal home. But why would the platty only go after the one molly and not the other molly? he leaves the black one alone and only goes after the orange.....and this is the second orange weve gotten since the first one died 2 days after we got all 4

 

I have mollies and platies together in my 30 gallon and the male molly is always showing off for the platy like hes trying to mate.
