Mixing shrimp from different sellers

I have an established colony of red rili shrimp I've had for 3 years. It started from a small group (10) and I've been selectively breeding for color. I'd like to add more shrimp to increase their genetic diversity. I'm looking at a website that has the shrimp as well as some fish and plants I want.

The problem(?) is it's a different store from where I got my original group. Somewhere in the back of my head I swear I've heard of people having problems mixing shrimp from different sources, but a quick Google didn't get me anything. Has anyone had any experience trying this? Would it even matter since my colony is already 3 years removed from their source?

Edit: In case you're wondering, I pretty much have to order online because of where I live. I like to get more then one thing at once to make the shipping cost feel more worth it. Hence why I want to get the shrimp from this source instead of the old one.

I’ve done this many times. I check the shrimp out make sure they are all healthy.if they look good I buy. Like your saying I like to mix to hopefully keep them strong. Mine are also around 3-4 yrs. I’ve also mixed colors. But they’ve all went back to red.

While any new shrimp from any shop could have a parasite or something and probably should go into quarantine that would be the case with any shop even the same one you got original stock from.

Take a torch / flashlight with you and have a very good look before you buy anything new. Or gamble your money buying on line.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll QT everything for a month before adding it to a display tank, regardless of where it's from. Longer if I'm suspicious of anything.

i have had shrimps od different colours from different shops in a small 5G tank. Its nice to have many colours in the same tank. But they will interbreed and the next generation of shrimps will end up looking like tiger caridinas. or look like amanos with some stripe pattern but smaller). unless you only keep the same colour. they will interbreed. i have RCS that are kinda of translucent red. i think this is degradation of colours over generation.
i keep them for fun and dont really bother about the breeding. thus this is the results. if you are breeding then more consideration before putting them together.

Here’s the thing if going to qt you will need a seasoned tank. Next is what are you looking for? Green eggs are a bad thing and planaria also. If either are notices they must be removed. If planaria the remaining shrimp must be treated. If green egg the shrimp must be removed.

I'm breeding for fun, but I think it's more interesting to go for quality. Well quality in my eyes anyway. I don't actually cull anything though. Any "culls" get moved to a community fish tank to live out their lives.

Anyway, I was kind of figuring I'd get a group of 10, and the best ones would go into the main colony well any that are "off" go to the cull tank. Which is basically just low grade cherry shrimp at this point, randomly enough.

I have an assassin snail colony in a spare tank as well as another currently empty tank. I keep extra filter media with the snails to keep it seeded and I move it if I need to. I've never had issues, although I imagine if I get a huge order I might overwhelm my system. I do have a couple canister filters I can pull some media from if I need to though.

I don't really look for anything specific. Just keep a close watch on everyone to see if anything shows up.

Getting shrimp from a different source will do your stock wonders, keeping the same stock breeding without adding new shrimp will lead to Traits Depression which is noticeable by your shrimp starting to loose colour, when I'm out and about if I see anything that I could use I'd buy them even if it's ½dozen it will help.
I'm not sure on the coment of green eggs mine have yellow, green or a slight variations which pose no problems

Richie I’m going back to a fungus that made the eggs look green.
