Alright I'm starting a 55 gallon tank my question is can I mix the salt water in the tank with my base rock and Sand in place? or should I pull it out. I have not put the sand in the tank yet but would like to the sand is dry and not living my next question do I need a light cycle my tank would like to start cycling before I've purchased that outrageously expensive light so I can save some money. I'm going to update my profile right after posting this

Hi,
I don't see a problem mixing the salt with the base rock and sand in place. I mixed mine in the tank, then added sand/rocks etc, but you should be ok to have it in there.

There's no harm that can be done to the rock or sand if salinity is slightly off.

As long as there is no fish or inverts in the tank you are okay to mix in the tank
