I have a single betta and 2 nerites in a 20gal tank. It was all cycled, 0/0/3-5 very consistently. I haven't seen one of my nerites for a couple days, just figured he's buried in the substrate. Yesterday tested .25amm so I'm suspecting it might have died? I sifted through the gravel a little but can't find it. Looked all over my fish room too. Should I keep going through the substrate to find it or just wait and see?

I looked everywhere, even around my other tank to see if maybe it found a new home. I know they can be escape artists, but the ammonia spike has me concerned a bit. I wasn't sure if anyone had dealt with similar spikes from fish/snail deaths.
