Missing Guppy ?

HI all. I just recently decided to become serious about the hobby and thought this would be a good place to ask questions when needed, and eventually help others. I have a small 3gal I plan to keep just 1 or 2 small fish such as tiger endlers in just to start. To get my cycle going, I bought some guppy fry at my local pet shop. All is well and the guppies have survived about a week or so with no issues so far. Today as I went to check up on them and test my water, I noticed one was missing. I’ve checked inside my filter, under all the decorations, around the tank, and there’s no sign of it. I had 5 of them, now 4. Could the other guppies have killed it ?

 

Well, it's always unsettling to not be able to find your fish. Can you post a picture of the entire tank? I doubt that the other guppies would have eaten the entire fish, so if they did play a part in it's demise, look for severed fins or small remains.

 

Here’s the setup. I haven’t seen any obvious remains floating around yet.

 

Does the tank have a tight-fitting lid? If not, there is the possibility that the guppy could have jumped out.

 

It does, with just a small opening at the top.

 

Check all over the floor and behind the stand for your missing fish. Do you have any cats?

 

Do you have a cat that could've reached in and got a hold of it somehow? That happened to one of my adult guppies once

 

No cats, just dogs. They aren't even allowed in the room when I’m not there anyhow, and I keep them under supervision while they’re there anyway.
