Missing crayfish

Aight so I got a white crayfish today to have some more company to my other crayfish and that little guy legit dissapeared like an hour after I put him in the tank¿ he is smaller than the others, but I doubt he escaped cuz all of his right legs weren't developed yet, any ideas? The only thing I can think of is that he probably buried himself in the gravel which is white like him :/

 

How big was he? Are there any predators in the tank? How deep is the sand?

 

All his legs should have been intact from birth, they must have been pulled off in a fight, normally if they don't like the tank water they go looking for fresh water, but the fact there's others in there says your water is fine so he's either hiding or the others have ripped him apart and eaten him

 

I'd bet he's hiding under something or escaped, since they typically don't burrow straight down and if he got eaten you'd see pieces everywhere.

What other crayfish do you have in the tank? Also how many? I don’t think that it’s too far of a stretch that others attacked him especially if he was already injured. Either way might be a good idea to look around, I have heard they escape and run away surprisedly far distances

 

I bet escaped. Mine once was in a quarantine (breeder box) and escaped from a dangling light cord.

 

He was found like 20 feet away in the morning.
