Hi, I’ve got 2 African dwarf frogs in a 40 gallon tank with some other fish and I haven’t see one of them in 3 days I’m in starting to get concerned.
I don’t have any fish really big enough to eat him, I pulled the rock/ cave thing from my tank out and I don’t think he’s in there, I checked the filter and it really hard to see in the bottom part where it sucks the water in but he’s not in the main compartment of it and I checked in all the plants and I can’t find him anywhere could he have possibly buried himself in the Sand?

I really just want to find him so any advise is welcome

I've had a few a.d.f whom were let's say not the sharpest tool in the shed, check the corners of the tanks they like to wedge themselves in awkward spots.
Check under the rim of the top of the tank.
If he is not there than it is very possible he was eaten.

Hi welcome to FishLore!
They can also squeeze though very small openings. Are there any gaps in the lid? Have you looked around the room?

Can you get a flashlight to check the bottom part of the filter?

Good luck, I hope he is ok.

Thank you I have a flat lid so it slides on so there’s not really any rim areas from him to get stuck under, I’ve been looking out for him any time I am in our kitchen (where the tank is) so I would think if he had hoped out someone would have seen it because we have people staying at our house and there’s always people in the kitchen I’ve been thinking about if he got eaten but we don’t have any fish that I think would be big enough we have Cory catfish neon tetras and a Bristol nose pleco but only other thing is a snail and the other frog so I can’t see wat could have eaten it especially because all of these fish lived with our previous 2 frogs and it’s unlikely they are hungry as there is plenty food

I don’t have any openings in the lid to the tank except for a tiny are about 1cm for the cords to get out I’ve had them before and they liked to try and squeeze through the filter so I don’t know if he’s in there but I’m going to try to see if I can see better today sense it was dark last night

If he got stuck and drowned himself in the tank and you have cory cats and especially the pleco they will certainly have an a.d.f snack..I've seen my b.n pleco munch out on a few dead a.d.f in my day

This happened to me before and he was gone for days, and it was unusual as he was so active everyday. I finally found him sitting on top of my filter out of the water but alive. He died a few days later while hiding in some tank decor. I had told my local pet shop and I was told that the use of a oxygen stone and a floating leaf as they like to rest at top of tank sometimes. These two things help a frog live happily. I am planning to add another frog to my tank again. I have now got a oxygen stone and have yet to purchase a floating leaf[/QUOTE]
