20 Gallon Tank Miracle Corydora catfish fry

About a month ago my Corys were spawning like crazy! I tried in vain to collect the eggs in a breeder box. All the eggs in the box looked like they molded. I did have 6 that hatched in the tank but were too small for me to catch. I was pretty sure they didn't make it. This morning I found one of my female Corys dead and was really upset.

When I looked in the tank this evening I spotted one tiny quarter inch fry rooting around my shale rock cave. I am so excited.
sorry the pictures are so blurry. He's just so tiny and fast that it's hard to get a good pic of him. it really is a miracle that he made it.

Awesome! Congrats on the baby. Sorry for the loss of your adult though.

Death happens and I know it wasn't from any obvious disease. So I am chalking it up to natural causes. There is really no telling how old she was and the other corys look good still so hopefully its nothing that will affect the rest. I am also hoping there are more catfish fry hiding somewhere

What other fish do you have in the tank that want to snack on junior?

I have guppies, guppy fry, adult corydoras, and some mystery and nerite snails. I know the guppies ate the eggs like crazy, but most of them are too small, other than the adults, to fit the cory fry in their mouth. I don't know if corydoras are cannibalistic, but the adults would be big enough to eat him if they wanted.

How cute, congrats!
My pygmy corys had lots of babies when I had them in a species-only tank. Now those were some tiny babies lol. And corys don't generally eat moving things as they are mostly foragers, so I wouldn't worry about them eating their own young.

Hahahaha great. Are they C.Aeneus "emerald" or Brochis Splendens which are called Emerald Corys as well?
