Hahaha ok here goes one of those stupid questions i told yall bout lol.
Now i was reading online late lastnight learning about african cichlids when somewhere along the line i read that if you set up your tank and get cheap inexpensive minnows living in it for a month to start the cycle then add your cichlids and either take out the minnows or leave them for a snack for your cichlids and this is how they said to cycle a tank for cichlids. Now is this far out there or is there any truth to this? Leaving personal preference and opinions out of it my question is yes it is prolly not the greatest thing to leave thwm in as snacks but will it work?

You probably could do it that way. I used media from another canister and a bottle of Dr Tim's One & Only to cycle my shell dweller cichlid tank.

He said it was. He's got a very successful 55g cichlid tank and a guppy breeding operation - to feed the cichlids..
