just one right now! it's a planted 10 gallon with my betta and two nerite snails. I am very slowly putting together a 5.5g for either another plakat betta or a pea puffer! i'm waiting until it gets cooler so I can rinse my sand and order plants or fish. I also have a half gallon (maybe a gallon?? idk) critter carrier with a bunch of pond snails if that counts as a tank lol.

I specialize in checking the new posts tab several times a day, african dwarf frogs, and I guess bettas?? I don't know enough yet!!

What is your favorite frog midna

would I be lame if I said african dwarf frogs

we get these teeny tiny little frogs around our porch sometimes. they're probably toads. idk. but they're cute an I love them. I love small things. one time I found the mummy of one in my closet beneath all my shoes. no idea how long it'd been in my closet, but it had dried up into the tiniest little amphibian king tut.

I also stumbled across this teeny tiny froggo at our local arboretum several years ago. it was about the size of a nickel.

Do you plan on putting together a bigger tank in the future? If so, what are you going to put in it?

How has fish keeping changed your life?

i'd like to, but I have a lot of drawbacks, so it would probably be like... in the future-future lol. there's no room at my parent's house for another tank, especially a bigger tank. I have my 10 gallon in the "butler's pantry" next to the pantry (my family always leaves the pantry door open which blocks most of my tank, which annoys me because then my fish can't see anything lol) and I only have enough room to fit my 5.5g i'm setting up beside it. no idea where i'm gonna put all the crud next to the tank when that happens lol. i've had a tank in that spot since I graduated college back in 2013 and my mom's not thrilled about it lol. all the rest of my tank equipment is taking up room in the dining room and the cabinet under the tank.

20180824_014815.jpg

if I were to get another tank i'd have to get a stand too, and then figure out where to put it. there's no room in my room. plus electricity costs... I really can't get anymore pets while i'm living with my parents. I already brought home my frog, old betta, hamsters, and cat from college, all which were bought without my parents' permission (u shoulda seen their face when I brought home my new screaming cat to visit over the weekend, hoooo boy), so going against their wishes while i'm living here would be bad of me.

then there's the whole "i've been unemployed for a year and have no income" thing, lol. i've already spent 400 bucks on this 10 gallon tank, idk what a bigger tank would cost!!! so maybe someday when I have a job and my own place. or if I marry someone rich. haha yeah riiiiight

that was such a long answer i'm sorry ajdjdjfk TO ACTUALLY ANSWER YOUR QUESTION THOUGH, the biggest tank that I really want is just a planted 20 gallon long. filled with african dwarf frogs. preferably with some blonde ones in there. that's what I was going to do until I decided to just get a betta. I can't wrap my head around getting any bigger tanks than like a 29 gallon or 40 breeder, all though when I look at bigger sizes, they don't look too big. but then money. lol. there's also not a whole lot of fish out there that I want. I think a couple double tail goldfish or pearl scales might be nice, but I can't really have any cold water fish because texas. room temp in my house right now is 78, water is 79, and in the winter the house is 68. if I have my own place I might keep it cooler unless i'm cheap. I like cories and small plecos, um... some other stuff... fancy guppies I guess.... i'm very boring ok. I like teeny tiny pretty fishies. loaches are cool.

fish keeping has changed my life by making me spend more MONEY!!!!!!! I also want to say that it's distracted me from getting a job but we all know that's not true lol. idk when i'd have the time to set up tanks and stuff if I did have a full time job though. working stinks. uh. it's made me more knowledgeable about fishkeeping in general? i've learned lots, but still not enough. it also opened my world up to aquatic plants and all the good stuff that comes with it. it's made me post about my fish a lot on instagram and probably annoys my followers lol. and it made me drop some of my hobbies before I really got into fishkeeping.

right before that, I was really into the dragon age games. I was modding all of the games, taking hd screenshots and editing them with programs like flycam, cinematic tools, and photoshop cc, played and finished da2, almost finished origins... I was posting my screenshots on tumblr and also doing a lot of reblogging on my main blog, so I was on tumblr A Lot. then my frogs fell ill and I came to fishlore for help. haven't played dragon age or really looked at tumblr since, lol. I cancelled my subscription for photoshop because I wasn't using it and it was costing me money every month. I feel kinda bad because I still have a ton of screenshots I gotta post/edit, and I have like 700 followers... oh well. now I check fishlore like a thousand times a day

Is midna your real name? What does it mean?

nope! my real name is sheryl, but I recently went through a poop time and started going by ellie online. midna is in remembrance of that goofy-looking critter in my avatar, my old african dwarf frog. midna was named after a character from the video game the legend of zelda: twilight princess. I assume midna is short for midnight! zelda games like pulling clever stuff like that. get it. twilight princess. midna. she's a twili. she's actually THE twilight princess. yup. guess who just learned that because they're a #fakefan. me.

The only Zelda game I played was Ocarina of Time for the N64. Great game. Actually, I think my little brother was playing Twilight Princess when he came to visit. I just assumed Twilight Princess was Zelda, lol. It never occurred to me that it might be a different character. Then again, I haven’t played a game since the Playstation 2.

I played Twilight Princess on the Game Cube years ago. I have a PS2 that a friend gave me and am actually wanting to play some titles that I never had time for back in the day.

I played Twilight Princess on the WiI while enduring a difficult pregnancy... I'm talking hours each day for months. Wanted to name my then soon to arrive girl Midna but couldn't do it. Never loved a game so much that I bought it twice... the 2nd purchase being the HD version when it came out and of course, I got Breath of the Wild on release day.

Ladies in Gaming: Twilight Princess's Midna

My question for our own midnawas... How many hours did it take you to complete LoZ Twilight Princess? Lol, but now I see the fakefan hashtag and wonder if you've played... So, that's my next question. Have you ever played LoZ TP?

I was actually just explaining to Gala over dm that i've never really played tp. Whoops.

"I did actually TRY to play tp after it came out. got it for my bday and everything. but it just didn't interest me?? I got stuck at the part where you gotta get the stupid cat over the bridge and I felt I couldn't move on in the game unless I completed it. my brother did it for me, but then I kept dying so I was like **** it lol. never picked it up again. my brother's played and completed oot, majora's mask (that game always creeped/stressed me out tbh), tp, and wind waker (I have 0 interest in that game). all of our game systems are too old to play any of the newer games, and we've never had any interest in the classics before oot. (actually nvm, we have a ds, a 2ds and a wii, so we could play more "newer" games if we wanted to lol.) he's talking about getting a switch and botw for his birthday/christmas though.

oot was one of my fave games as a kid and I played and beat it several times. I have the ds version too but I haven't finished it yet. i'm so lazy when it comes to games, it's ridiculous. "

so there's that lol. but grrr, y'all are making me want to drag the old gamecube out of the disgusting pile of old game systems in my brother's room and play it!! but after gala said she clocked 200 hours on a single playthrough.... lol. idk.

what did you end up naming your daughter?? I think midna is a very pretty name!

saaaame. midna does actually jokingly call zelda the twilight princess when she meets her, but in the end it's revealed that midna is the true twilight princess. the ps2 is the last gaming console I bought haha. unless handhelds count. but kingdom hearts 3 is FINALLY coming out next year which means I need a ps4 or i'm outta luck.

That stupid cat! That one threw me for a bit too, lol. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that TP was my first Zelda game since trying to play the original on NES when I was a tyke. Though afterward, I did play a little OoT, but by then there was a new baby at home and I never got back to it. I do understand though.. OoT is considered the best in the series by a long shot, and all this talk has me wanting to pick it up again.

So, you still have a Wii? All I'll say is... they're hackable. And yes, even so, this Nintendo nerd bought a WiiU and TP in HD to play on it.

Midna is indeed a lovely name, but I considered how often she may have to explain it, teasing and all that. Guess I'm a little old school. Plus, I wanted to give her the middle name that was my mother-in-law's first name. We lost her when my firstborn, (a boy and his Grandma's pride and joy), was only six months old. 5 years later, a girl was on the way, and she is named Sophia Florence. I miss and love my mil, but didn't really love her name, and thought Sophia really rolled nicely with it. Found out later that it's been a number 1 name several years over, so yeah, not unique.

Lol, finally. That’s so true. I was talking to my brother about Kingdom Hearts. Since he’s still a gamer, I asked him if they’re still making old school games like Laura Croft, Rachet and Clank, Turok, etc. He blurts out Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming out, and I’m thinking, “Really, that’s it? Only three?” I played Kingdom hearts 2 ages ago, and figured there were a lot more after that. Brings back good memories.

I never took you to be a game nerd. I think it’s time for your interview

Ocarina of Time blew my mind when I first played it. I was probably in 3rd grade then. It felt so real. But I’m surprised it’s still considered the best Zelda game. It hasn’t aged well at all. I definitely want to check out Twilight Princess, though, but we’ll see.

And I agree that Midna sounds like a nice name. Unusual names aren’t so bad. Look at Oprah.

Then I went and screwed up giving my youngest daughter LEG for initials. Oops! But wait, this is starting to sound like I'm the one being interviewed, so....

Midna, do you get along well with your brother? What's the age difference and who's older?

yeah, we have a wii. are they backwards comptabile with gc games? what do you mean by hackable haha like what does that exactly entail... I don't mind playing it on the gc. they're all in that big ol' pile though. I think only the xbox 360 is out right now. I definitely recommend trying oot again!!!

I understand about the teasing. I do love the name you chose! sorry about your mil.

omg, there are DEFINITELY more kh games out... like, way more than necessary... Ugh. they're all mostly spinoffs, making canon an absolute MESS. they also come out on every new game console, so you have to buy a new console to play them I gave up after birth by sleep came out on the psp. kh2 is my fave. I was so into kh. didn't mess with the spinoffs though. watch the kh3 trailers on youtube, it looks amazing.

I was in elementary when I played oot too, can't remember what grade though. but I was pretty young. my first games were the lion king and donkey kong country on the snes.

ehhhhh... we've always been the quarreling type lol. he'd always annoy me and i'd always retaliate. there's a 2.5 year age difference; he's 25 and i'm 27, so i'm older. we have vastly different views and mannerisms, but we can agree on some things, and are alike in some ways. as I got older he got a little less annoying. I help him out when I can, but I think it's exhausting. I remember when he used to erase my pokemon games. not cool.

You've got to be kidding me. I've been further and them for the past two years or maybe a month ago but I can also. Can you really be and them for the past half two years or maybe a month ago but you can also wish for that? My guess is that when one really been and them for the past two years or maybe a month ago, it is then that he has really ever been and them for the past two years or maybe a month ago but you can also. It's just common sense.

Can you really be and them for the past half two years or maybe a month ago but you can also wish for that? My guess is that when one really been and them for the past two years or maybe a month ago, it is then that he has really ever been and them for the past two years or maybe a month ago but you can also. It's just common sense.
I see, you got me there.

I remember playing Majora's Mask on my cousin's 2DS. It made me "Thank you Kanye! Very cool!"

He also go this thing called "nintendo freeshop" and it basically makes every game free.

Ok so for my questions; What is your favorite song of all time? and What is your favorite song currently?

In order to save the entire world from exploding into a zillion fiery pieces a hundreds years from now, long after you die, you have to sacrifice yourself to do it; and if you knew this, would you? I wouldn’t, but this isn’t about me.

I honestly hate that question because there are about a bajillion trillion million songs out there. how am i, a mere mortal, supposed to pick just one????? uhhhhhhhh. pass. lol. I can tell you one of my favourite [insert genre here] songs of all time though. maybe. to be annoying, I'll do kpop:

my current favourite song... I haven't been listening to a lot of music lately, but I have been watching tv shows and fleetwood mac's rhiannon was stuck in my head for a few days. I love me some old school stevie.

no way. I am a total weenie. death is my #1 fear. the world will probably end hundreds of years from now anyway. it's not gonna be worth saving. sorry, folks.

Whats a good movie that you’ve seen recently?

well, i've seen a lot of very disappointing movies on netflix and prime recently... lol. my netflix history is just disappointment after disappoinment. I enjoyed watching "sierra burgess is a loser" and "adventures in public school," but liked "to all the boys i've loved before," "set it up" and "alex strangelove" better. they're all very silly teen romance movies (minus set it up) because I was on a kick for a while there. guess it's a guilty pleasure ok, looking through my netflix history is just embarrassing omg

the last movie I saw in theatres was jurassic world: fallen kingdom, which was good. I absolutely love the jurassic series. I'll be seeing the next fantastic beasts movie soon, which will probably be great despite j*hnny d*pp starring in it (and the nutcracker, which my mom really wants to see but I could care less about, blegh).

What's your favorite dinosaur?

i'm basic. it's a velociraptor. but like, jurassic franchise velociraptors. not real velociraptors. because they were just sissy babies. I like the big, cool, scary monster movie ones. they are also the dinosaurs i'm the most afraid of -- that and the trex. luckily the jurassic world movies have made velociraptors less frightening to me (blue ♡♡♡) but I still have dreams about them trying to eat me. it usually happens whenever I think about velociraptors during the day, and i'm about to fall asleep, so it looks like I know what i'm dreaming about tonight

as for REAL dinosaurs... idk. i've always favoured carnivores. herbivores are boring. but when you add feathers, even the carnivores are kinda boring. trex is a classic. I also like giganotosaurus and compys.

I almost feel like you're referencing to ARK Survival Evolved, LOL. Hawaii's only reptile are like small anoles, geckos, jackson chameleons specifically. So dinosaurs are super cool to me. I get jealous of people's pet bearded dragons, monitor lizards, snakes, and what-have-you. Can't get that legally here. I'd have to go to the Honolulu Zoo for a chance to see anything else lol.

Anything you always wanted to do, but was too afraid to or just couldn’t, for one reason or another?

Well, since we're talking about movies, music, and the beloved Stevie (Landslide has been my jam for a loooong time), I'd ask, have you ever seen Sound City? If not, you should. I'm probably biased... always loved Stevie... and McCartney... looove the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl in general, and get a little giddy when watching Taylor Hawkins play the drums.

Apparently, I'm pretty basic too... because I love a PSL!!
