Hello. I have a big problem. My crayfish is acting very strangely. Sometimes it just lies on his back curling his tail, and it seems like it is dead. But after an hour it's walking again. I have no idea how to help him

Welcome to Fishlore!

A bit more information would be helpful. What are your tank parameters (pH, temp, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates)?

Thanks It's a brand new tank, about 12 days old. I haven't tested water yet. It is 30 litres tank with 4 fish (guppies and mollies). Of course I have filter and heater (24-25C).

Do you have a test kit? Did you add media from another cycled tank or a bottled bacteria additive? That tank is really small for the stock you have and if it's not cycled you'll have even worse problems.

I added some bacteria additive before. And I ordered a test kit while ago. Fish are doing well. So is it too much for 30 litres tank?

Yes, your stock should be in a 110 L tank minimum. Mollies are big and have high bioloads.

I hate to say it, but he/she doesn't look good. Is that the only CPO (dwarf Mexican crayfish) in the tank? If it is a female that has a male with her, she could be trying and failing to lay eggs. Or he/she could be trying to molt, which is also looking like it is failing at it that photo. Usually when mine started looking like that, they didn't end up lasting much longer. The most frequent cause of death in my experience is a failed molt.

Your issues could be caused by the water quality though it looks like. Also, do you have any aeration in the tank? they need lots of oxygen in the water.

How is the crayfish doing today?

So I discovered that it's male. He is quite fine by now. He molted before. But I also think that it's the water issue. Oxygen level should be OK because aeration is going for 24/7. But water is a little yellowish. What is the reason for that? I have no idea.
And no, I have two of them.

We need to know what your water parameters are. First things to test would be ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.

I concur. The yellowing of your water could be caused by any number of variables. Do you have any driftwood?

So I made a water test. I think everything is in limits, NO2 0,5mg/l and NO3 10mg/l, but PH is between 7,6-8. Is it OK?

And yes, I have one driftwood. Water is still quite yellowish.

Do you have an Ammonia test? Your NO2 is too high. If your tank was cycled you would have 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite (NO2) and some reading of Nitrate (NO3). Do a water change right away and add Prime or similar water conditioner. And get an Ammonia test!

The yellowish tint could be tannins from the driftwood and does no harm and is actually good for the fish. How is the crayfish doing? Alison
