Last night, Kairi wedged herself headfirst between the corner of the tank and a bunch of java fern, I found her dead just a few minutes ago. :'(

She drowned I suppose... poor girl, she was a perfectly healthy betta...

whatta damper that put on today :(

Thanks for your condolences guys. I have since moved Violet from the fishbowl to kairi's home, for Violet's sake, and to take my mind of Kairi. I'll miss her, she was a good betta.

Thats sad. How long did you have her?? Maybe she died of old age.
  11. TFA101Well Known MemberMember

she was a walmart betta. only a few months, maybe 4 or 5. I know she drowned, she was perfectly healthy, and i found her wedged tightly between the rhizome od the java fern and the tank wall (i had to move some things around to get her out)

Oh okay. One of my 3 platies died a little similar except his body was wrapped around the filter and I assumed he go stucked and never got out. He looked healthy. People said its probably from stress.

I know, especially when you know it could have been easily avoided... :(

Giovanni, please don't be thinking you could've prevented this:(. She knows you loved her, we know you loved her, and things happen sometimes that we CAN'T avoid because we don't know there is a risk. Fish are intelligent creatures. Intelligent creatures get into trouble. They're able to think, but not always see the consequences. As humans, we can't think as fish, so we don't know what kind of trouble they're going to get into. We do the best we can.
