Mermaid: The Body Found (Animal Planet)

Did you guys see this documentary last night? My husband and I were blown away. It was really interesting, the creatures were mesmerizing and the CGI renderings were fascinating to watch. It did make me wonder again why we spend so much time, money and energy exploring other planets when there's still so much to discover on this one.

There are some that call it a "mockumentary" and say they were disappointed and it's a farce. I'm a believer. What can I say? There were too many scientific facts to back it up.

Believe. Don't believe. It's your choice. No matter what you believe, it was very well done and I'd highly recommend it when it airs again.

I saw it and it is possible that its a decent human relative. stories of mermaids go back for thousands of years

One of the things that locked it in for me were the cave drawings depicting the battles between the mermaids and dolphins against the land dwellers. Each generation of humans has passed forward records of these creatures existing. How could they not? Fascinating stuff.

I will neither confirm or deny the existence of merpeople.

The show its self was more or less based of the IDEA, not what actually happened. It was a "speculative documentary" but the people on there were acting. So they used fictional events and true facts as well as possible scenarios, to create the show.

A Q and A with the creator.

The aquatic ape theory has been around since the 1940's. It is a topic touched upon in many college natural science courses. The theory itself is not controversial. However this documentary did a spin on the common theory. They took in the account of our ancestors actually going to the water instead of pulling back into land. It is highly plausible theory. Whether it actually happened? I don't know. There is no evidence or science against this theory. It is more possible to have mermaids than bigfoot. The enviroment that bigfoot is claimed to live in cannot support a creature that large. The drain on the ecosystem would be severe especially taking in the account of the 10% theory of energy. I can talk for ever about evolution and theories, but I will just keep this a short read.

I have no idea what's being talked about here, haven't read links. But there are confirmed cases of mermaid syndrome where the legs are fused together creating a mermaid tail.

I was actually going to post about it. very cool I think. and why not believe. there are many who believe in aliens, or ghosts...why not mermaids. the ocean is such a huge, and largely undiscovered place....I think they could be out there somewhere. plus that cell phone video...that looked pretty real.

but I think it's fun to just think of something like that, possibly being out there

If you think of mermaids as once the same species as us that diverged, then eating them isn't the most pleasant thought. lol

I say we interrogate Dino.

Or maybe Bigfoot's wife is an alien, and they had a mermaid daughter, and they also have a pet chupacabra. And ride Pegasuses. And eat Phoenixes. Who knows? Maybe Dino knows this family.

Next you will be saying there are people who believe in Santa Claus.

I like to be interrogated with pasta and chocolate.
Bigfoot is an alien, the mermaid is adopted, the chupacabra had to be put to sleep, riding pegasuI is over rated and phoenixes taste burnt.
Anything else you need to know?

I thought phoenixes would taste burnt, you know with them bursting into ashes all the time. I've got more, but this isn't the place for that, we are on the topic of Bigfoot's adopted child.

A Phoenix is a bird from mythology.
It lives for hundreds of years.
When it is ready to die, it builds a nest, then it and the nest burst into flames.
From the ashes a new Phoenix arises.

niiiice.....it's like a bird with super powers. if only it existed....

In other versions of the story the phoenix its self bursts in flames and burns to ashes and from that a chick arises, they supposedly age fast as well. Very intelligent and have magical powers. in most case they are also very strong.
