Oh I'd love to meet everyone! I'm kinda introverted myself, unless I'm at an expo but then I have something to talk about with everyone I meet, so I'd be the same deal here!

I am also not old enough to work, but I volunteer at a botanical garden which I consider work because it's routine I would like to work in the space program

Retired military, divorced single mom of 2 daughters, very rural, not many people around keeping fish. Enjoy all the info on here and the words of encouragement from everyone.

 

I think it would be so much fun being able to meet everyone from here. No one here keeps fish or is as passionate as I am about it lol. I'm a 20 yr old introvert with only one friend. I do have a bit of trust issues, according to others but I don't feel the need to talk about my personal life unless asked, never dated anyone. I am far from smart though lol. I'm jealous there's no fish clubs where I live

I will be attending the AquaticExperience in NJ in October (likely going on Saturday) in case people want to meet up. I find it easier and more fun to meet up at club events or fish stores. Will you be going too? Jocelyn Adelman Lchi87 ? Would be good to get a good NY/NJ fishlore turnout.

I'd love to meet Gypsy13, endlercollector, emeraldking, Discus-Tang and Goldiemom <3 I'd love to mean any and all of you, really, because this is a great community, even if it does get intense where betta are concerned *lol* Then again, EVERYWHERE gets intense over betta, so I get it.

I belong to my local club, the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society, and am really hoping to make tonight's meeting. It will be my first one, but we get to hear Karen Randall's talk about aquarium plants, where they come from and the whole chain of collection, propagation and getting them into the hobby. Should be very informative! I belong to the email chat for the group, and have already had some great conversations with people. Great way to get new tanks and fish! ... but so far I haven't succumbed to either, even though I came close to getting 13 dwarf neon rainbowfish the other day before I returned to my senses....

Oh my goodness, there are too many I'd like to meet in person to name. How awesome would it be to have an entire Fishlore gathering?!?!?? Just imagine...

I have been lucky enough to meet xiholdtruex and Donnerjay at a smallish local fish club expo, where I found my beloved Sam the betta.

ReefAPalooza Orlando is probably the biggest expo that happens within a day's drive of me and I hope one of these years we can get a big gathering there! Perhaps there is also a Goldfish expo somewhere in central Florida? I'm not sure, but I feel there must be more fishy stuff I'm missing in the fish farm state! I can't believe I haven't found more in SoFlo, to be honest, (though perhaps this is also because I'm an introvert and avoid most social media platforms.) There are so, so many LFS's and aquarium install and service companies down here. Seems the hobby is thriving in my area at least.

Goldiemom what part of Houston are you in, I maybe out that way in a couple of months. I use to live down in Clear Lake City area in the Late 70's.

 

Where in NJ is that? I work in North Jersey and live just over the border in PA.

It's at the Meadowlands Expo Center, so very close to NYC (but not Meadowlands stadium.... I almost drove to wrong place for a different event)

It could be the shear size of Texas. Plus a couple of the cities are huge, I know Houston is. San Antonio is up there, then you have the Dallas area.

 

What I want to know is why there aren’t many in California, I feel all lonely up here in the Bay Area!

They still maybe stuck in traffic, I lived in SoCal for a while never again.

The traffic up here isn’t too bad. Although 101 can be a nightmare if you get caught in rush hour!

A 100k a year job couldn't lure me back several years ago, it was the same as making 50k a year around the areas I was working. I'll leave it at that, there's many more reasons.

It sounds familiar. I might have been there. I actually lived in Galveston at an apartment complex called The Village By The Sea with my ex, whom I was quite serious with at the time—which was the reason I moved down south in the first place, after I got out of the army. I loved being by the beach, and the food around the island was good. Plus, Houston wasn’t that far, and I enjoy driving and exploring new places. Those were memorable times. When I think back on it, that was my fork on the road: stay, get married, and have kids, or throw it all away for something new. No regrets.
