Melting In Texas!

We are having Extremes in heat this year...even hotter than normal. Temps are hovering at 100+F. My 125 G pond is under a patio cover in shade. However, pond water temp is now at 85F. What can I do to cool down the water and help the fish. Is it ok to float frozen bags of water? Perhaps some large blue ice blocks? I have a spitter and added an air bar for more oxygen. Suggestions? There are 2 commons and a Shubunkin In the pond. I am so worried.

I hear you!
It’s 108 currently where I am located, and it feels like a burning furnace! You could float frozen bags or bottles of water, bigger ones work better. I usually do fans for the indoor aquariums, and turn off the heaters, and lights if needed. You won’t need to if you use LED, they don’t emit heat. I would start off with that, and see how it works.

Thanks! Got some large zip locks freezing now. Will get a couple of 2 liters going too. This is miserable!

The ice is probably your best bet. If you have fans, use those as well. Hope the fishies stay cool

I really hope my bettas haven’t fried back at home, even when my heaters are regulated. I am on vacation, but return tomorrow

Good luck. Hope all is well. My indoor tanks are holding their own. Thank goodness for central A/C!

Mine are inground so don’t have this problem. They also have two airstones. I’ve got the air pump inside and the airlines covered so the air is cooler.
One thing you might consider if it’s a tub pond is putting something around it to insulate the water.

Add a fountain- increased evaporation should help

Here ya go.

Sounds lovely! Do you wet down the brick during the day? How deep is it? What’s the water temp at its deepest?
That really sounds cool!
