I got one half moon betta, 4 tetras and 2 mollies all in one tank. Is okay if I'd mix Melafix and Water Conditioner together?

any one?

Why would you want to? Melafix is garbage and may harm the betta's labyrinth organ.

What's wrong with your fish?

He's having a fin rot

Little more information please.

What size tank is this?
What are your parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)?
How often do you do water changes?

Fin rot many times can be healed with water changes, and keeping water parameters good.

Agree with the above. Melafix may be able to prevent certain infections from taking hold but it hasn't been shown to be effective against active ones.

Please add any information you can about your setup and maintenance schedule.

  • Tank size is 2.5 gal. 12 x 6 x 8.5
  • I don't really know the levels of ammonia, nitrite and neither nitrate.
  • I do 40% water change every after 3 days. And I'd do 100% water changes during sundays (that includes cleaning my tank)
  • I use purified drinking water for my tank.

Do you have a filter? How is the water purified? Is it distilled?

Bettafix is just a diluted version of Melafix. I still wouldn't use it.

  • Yep. I do have a filter (biofilter) the ones that uses air to suck the water in to it.
  • Purified water is processed through reverse osmosis and carbon filtering, in other phrase, the water is clean, super clean.

The water is too clean I'm afraid. Unless you're adding back the minerals and salts normally found in water and required by life to survive then the tank and its inhabitants won't be healthy.

Is there a reason that you use this water?

Why do you use purified drinking water? This may also be an issue since like aquaphobia said it requires you add back in minerals.

Have you done anything to cycle this tank? I would suspect you don't have a cycled tank and would recommend that you get a liquid freshwater test kit, API is widely used.

yes there is. because the water in my place is so dirty that is why I have to use purified drinking water

How is your water "dirty'? Have you tested it somehow?

I haven't tested it yet. But I know it's very dangerous for the fish
