mega tank falure

HI all long time no post,
well we went to corfu for a weeks holiday came back and all fish were alive and well. 2 days later I did a water change, later that night spotted a small puddle on the floor near our juwel rio 400. yes it was leaking the water had got into the stand and worked its way out at one of the joins this was at about 9pm Saturday night, so got the 160 litre out of the garage added some sand and pumped some water out of the rio then removed all the plants (real) and had to bin them no room in the small tank, by 2am had got all the fish into the small tank, then removed the 70 kg of sand into 2 large containers. Luckily didn't lose a fish, or shrimp or snail. phew!!
I hope they will be ok in the 160 for a few days (about 50 fish small community fish 10 shrimp and 2 snails)

Then went online and ordered a Boyu 300 litre curved glass tank from all pond solutions looks like a nice tank ( wanted a new one after the fiasco with the juwel )does anyone know anything about this tank ? also managed to sell the rio to a guy that rebuilds tanks, new tank arrives Friday will post some pics when its up n running

 

RIGHT!! You probably spilled a little water on the floor...and have convinced your spouse that if we don't replace it...there will be chaos and a flood. She says..."Ok honey, do what's best!!!" Bada Bing....new tank!


PS...sorry to hear about your tank leaking...and congratulations on your new tank!! I've been looking for reasons to buy a 125g tank...but I don't have any body to convince..and I'm a hard sell at times..so it's hard for me to pull the plug and buy it.

 

No it was leaking from the bottom corner . My hands got soaked carring it out to the giys van

I was just kidding with you. Hopefully your wife didn't read my post. She might believe me! Sounds like you have a nice tank coming!! Send pics when you have it set up.

 

Sorry to hear about your 400g tank. That is a huge prize to lose. I'm glad you were able to get everyone transferred before worse damage

 

Oh no! :0 thank goodness it didn't start leaking at the beginning of your vacation, you might have come home to an empty tank :/ Glad to hear you were able to safely transfer everyone!

I know how that feels. When I come back from vacation....or even a long weekend away...I walk around the house when I return with a certain paranoia that SOMETHING went wrong while I was away. I have a 90 gallon in the front entryway of my home. One morning when I awoke...and I was walking towards it...I walked through the kitchen and all of a sudden..."SPLASH"...I had stepped in a HUGE pool of water. I freaked out thinking the tank on the other side of the wall had cracked while I was asleep...and as I popped my head around the wall into the front entryway, my heart full of panic....expecting to see an empty tank....it was FULL.

Turned out, the ice maker system in my refrigerator had developed a leak in the water dispenser part. I was never so happy to simply have a broken fridge!!!

 

Lol huge relif but still cost you a fridge
