Media From Lfs? Question

I called a fish store asking them if they had some media I could buy to cycle my tank and they said yes.

    1. When getting media, do you dump the water that the media came in into the tank as well? Or do you just put the media i the filter and discard the water?

    2. How long does it take for already cycled media to cycle a tank?

    3. I have some fish in the tank, will the new media affect them?

    4. When looking up reviews of the place, someone said that there was Green-blue algae in the tanks, will that also transfer to my tank via filter media? And how do I prevent it from becoming an issue in my tank?

Media that is already cycled will instantly cycle a tank. I only use the filter media, not the water that came with it. Algae shows up with light, so if there is any in the media, less light than before will fix that.

Ok, thanks for the response, should I turn off the aquarium lighting for a couple of days just to be sure (And is that ok with the fish)?

You can turn the lights off for a few days, or you can lower the amount of time it stays on for a few days to a week to be sure.
