I know this site Is directly for fish and pets so I'll do a quick update on them all my fish are all good I did lose one of my old Bettas but that's about it. I need to buy another filter one on my big tank went out still have 1 in it but usually use two. Minimized my 5 tanks to two bc being busy maintenance got hard for all the tanks. My car is having issues I am a girl I know no one who knows of cars n I know nothing if them but basics. My starter I believe is going out I self diagnosic it bc my car yesterday left me stranded for a hour. I thought it was a battery issues check my battery connection and everything it was fine my cars head lights were bright radio ran fan to AC ran all normal car wouldn't start. When I turn my key over the noise it makes when I try to start it sounds like a buzz which online says battery. What's crazier is it starts after a few time of trying to start it which leads me to believe it's my starter and not battery besides the car obviously having full battery power wen it won't start. I took it to a shop showed them a video they didn't even look at my car said yeah starter it's 700 to fix n I was like oh okay n left. What do u guys think is it my starter I have a Honda civic 2006 what could cause it to not wanna start n pick and choose when it starts if no engine light are on?

Hi Meganrae148
I am a retired carpenter not a mechanic but.

Modern cars now have a automatic shut off for the battery when the battery is starting to get low.

I know exactly the sound you describe. And I know what you mean by the battery appearing to have enough charge. But what the car has done is switch off the starter motor from the battery in order to leave enough battery for the on board computer etc.

I know it seems like the battery is ok but it’s likely on its way out. You could charge the battery if you have a charger but honestly it’s going to happen again soon. You need a new battery sorry that’s how it is with modern cars. The pain is that you get no warning of a low battery.

Yes you could get a jump start from another battery in order to get the car home. But you will have to get a new battery soon ( now)

What you describe is in fact a sick battery almost dead . Yes it starts sometimes but it’s turning off.
The click click click sound is definitely the key. As well as it starts sometimes.

Thanks so much for your time on commenting it means a lot. And yes when the car starts it drives won't die why driving and when I shut it off sometimes it'll start right up other times it'll make a buzz noise like zzzzzzzz zzzz zzz and after the 4tj time of turning the key over or so it's starts. That's why I was confused thinking my battery was fine
. Here's a link of what it does

Yes that’s the only warning you get that the battery is almost dead.

The technical term for current used from a battery is measured in amp hours and the term cranking amps applies to the draw from a starter motor.

This is just a rough estimate. But a AC fan might use 25 amps draw from a battery. The lights might be 25 amps . But the starter motor is something like 600 amps for the first few seconds. Basically it’s a huge demand compared to lights and a radio etc. A bigger car uses more cranking amps with a truck using 1000s of amps for the initials turn over.

Once started, the alternator will provide power to charge the battery and keep things running. But when batteries go dead, they don't charge.

See that's a really good point I actually took it to a mechanic earlier today who was gonna charge me 700 they didn't check my car they watched that video n said it's the starter I mentioned battery cables or battery bc when I look up online car making buzzing sound won't start it said battery and he explained if the battery was dead the car wouldn't start what soever

I had a 2007 Honda Civic and had the starter go out on several occasions. I don't remember it costing me anywhere near $700.00. Where are you located?

Also if your going to be replacing the battery go to a auto store, buy it yourself, then go to a mechanic, and have them put it in if you can't do it yourself. Otherwise you may get charged a lot. I believe a battery for a 2006 civic should be around $90.00-130.00 if I remember correctly.

I am a mechanic and it sounds like a bad connection at the battery. That buzz says low voltage which is usually a dead battery but being it will start at times then I'm thinking a bad connection. BUT, it very well could be the starter. All you can do is make sure all the connections are clean and tight at/near the battery, then check the starter.
Of course guessing over the internet is not a good way to diagnose anything. Good luck
EDIT: just saw the video, check connections first but ya, starter.....

$700 is a ridiculous price. What kind of car is it? It shouldn’t be any more than 3-400 honestly

Try this website: yourmechanic.com. They will give you a free quote. I was going to use this site to do a major repair on my car but decided it wasn't worth it and just ended up buying a new car.

It basically works like one of those cab/ride services where they locate a mechanic in your area and he/she comes to your home or location of preference and does the job. No overhead costs so they are able to charge you a cheaper rate and plus each mechanic has their own reviews submitted by other users that they have serviced.

I suggest at least getting a quote from that website so you know how much you should be paying. Also go on car forums and ask others like you did here.

Edit: Sorry they don't locate if I remember correctly but you can pick from a list of mechanics in your area and look at their reviews/resume and pick the one you want.
