Mating Gbr & Gold Ram Lay Eggs

Hello I have a American community tank. My tank is 90 gallons and has angels GBR and Gold Rams as well as Kribs a red tailed shark Corys it is heavily planted and with many hiding places. I have 5 GBR and 2 Gold Rams it's a lot but I wanted them to pair off naturally... and it worked. A female GBR and male Gold Ram paired off. It's not the safest place but I've added a pot to make it safer for next time. I have a 10 gallon tank I've been setting up that I could move the fry into a groll out tank or I could move the pair in but I don't know if 10 gallons is big enough for that ideally I would leave the Rams in the community tank as I like them there however in the past breeding Rams in a community tank has always been a problem for me. When the eggs don't hatch or the fry get eaten it stresses the parents out and I have lost a pair before so if that happens again I would rather just move the breeding pair
here are two pictures one of the pair with the breeding location and the second of the whole tank with the pot

They are breeding on the right side and defend everything on the bottom half that's right of the pot

I would move the pot to where they have the rock currently is after this batch
A few questions I have what type are the offspring going to be I know that if you breed a German blue with an electric blue it is mostly German blues so I'm guessing it's the same for these mostly German blue but I don't know also should I change any of the parameters my tank is currently at 78° and a pH of seven I can change it to help the pair but not too much because it is a community tank also my 10 gallon is not cycled completely but is in the process of being set up I currently have the sponge running in the main tank to help it get it cycled finally if I just move the eggs maybe not this batch but another one into a separate tank can I care for them without the parent fish I know the parent fish fan the eggs so would I need a water current or something I know I seem clueless on breeding them as it's been a while since I have also I am going to do more research but I wanted to see what you guys think
Thanks,
Austin

Rams will probably not spawn in a pot, they are usually open substrate spawners. They spawn on top of a rock, a piece of wood, a dead leaf, and sometimes even directly on the substrate. Moving the pair to a 10 is risky, as the move could trigger some aggression between them. Not because it's a 10, but just from the change of scenery. However, if you want them to raise the fry, it might be your only chance. A 10 is adequate for a young pair, I wouldn't keep them there indefinitely.

Alternately, one can pull eggs or wiggler fry and raise them away from the parents. I used to siphon wigglers all the time, only took eggs if the parents wouldn't get them to hatching. IMO, this is a better use of the 10 gallon tank. Keep it bare and put a sponge filter in it.

The 10 has a sponge filter currently in my main tank canister filter getting ready for cycling. I have had rams lay eggs 6 times from 3 different pairs and from my experience they always lay them on that same flat rock Or one that looks the same But I have heard of them laying eggs on gravel
I'm struggling a little to cycle the 10 gallon Because there is no substrate
Have u ever tried putting gravel in a pantyhose or mesh bag to hold the bacteria? I could just pull it out when cleaning. For the rams I'm fine if they aren't successful in raising the fry after all it's a community tank so it's kinda expected. However I am worried about the pair. The last pair I had died of stress because the eggs didn't hatch. That is the last thing I want to happen. I think if the eggs hatch at least not necessarily have the fry grow to full size, then the parents won't be as stressed. Also if the parents were in a separate tank then there would be less stress for food and fighting off other fish. Any ideas are appreciated. I'll consider moving just the eggs or fry
Thanks,
Austin

I just reread your post and noticed you said they will probably not spawn in a pot put will on a rock. I misread it at first and thought you meant they would not spawn on a rock that's why I explained myself above. Sorry

I woke up this morning and the eggs were all gone the female German blue ram still hangs around the rock but the gold ram is completely gone I think the female knows the eggs are gone because she isn't super territorial it's not that big a deal for me the Parents have always failed the first time around maybe they will pair up different I noticed a different German blue ram is hanging around the female German blue so maybe they will pair up I don't really care that much if the eggs don't hatch it's more just for fun but I thought I would keep you guys updated if anyone has any ideas on how to make them more successful that's cool maybe I could put the rock in a more enclosed area as always any feedback is appreciated
Thanks,
Austin

I figured I'd update this a little. I still have all 5 GBR s and both Gold Rams. everyone is healthy and from what I can tell none have paired off again. the original pair is still kinda hanging out but not territorial or laying eggs. if thinking of getting some dither tetras for the angels any ideas?
Thanks,
Austin
