It's so nice when you have friends that help you with your MTS...

She brought me a used 30 gallon tall, stand, lid, light, and Marineland Magnum 350 Deluxe Canister Filter, it has been sitting in a garage for a few months if not longer. The canister still had water in it, it was black, took it apart the blue filter was still intact, but the screen that hold the carbon or charcoal was damaged and had A pretty good hole in it, I dumped all the charcoal out and put it back together with the blue filter sleeve over it filled it with water and put the ends in a tote with water in it to test it out, everything seemed to run good.

What do I need to get for this before I can put it on the tank? would just getting the Marineland Magnum Filter Micron Cartridge Water Polishing Filter be all I need?

If you were able to fix the media basket, then all you'd need is your media of choice. You do not have to get the micron cartridge, unless you'd like one. If you have the biowheel, you'll need to split the return hose to cut some water over to the wheel.

It has no bio wheel, When you say media of my choice do you mean any type of filter I can put in the media basket, like stuff batting or something into it? here is the one I have.

Yeah whatever you want to put in the basket. The micron filter is only for occassional water polishing, you can't use it for regular use it will clog too quickly. I ran my micron filter yesterday for about 4 hours to clear up some fine particulates in my tank. I have a magnum 250 on my 40 long and it has a pretty strong outflow. Just make sure that 350 on a 29 gallon tank isn't too strong for your fish. My giant danios love it though, they swim right up against the outflow against the current.

yes I would not bother with the filter cartridge. You can use cheap dollar store scrubbies, sponges, batting, biomax, seachem matrix. Whatever will fit in it. Try to start off with course media/sponges then your bio media.

ok I took apart my 5 bio orb filters that I could not sell and used the sponge off of them they slid right down over the center rigid thing, put the screen back on and then put the blue filter sleeve back on it and have it running on another tank to try and get the good bacteria started on it. running like a champ, my Jack dempsey was atacking the white mesh I put over the intake so not to suck any babies up, there tank is so nasty looking, lots of that yellow brown algae all over, put two cae's in there and he bit one of there tails off, he is so mean, and territorial.
