male Platy foamy mouth

I don't know what is wrong with this fish but a few days after I had gotten him I noticed a foamy substance on his mouth. it looked like it was going away after a few days but now its back and I don't know what to do. Other than the physical problem he acts normal and eats and swims with the other fish. I can't get a pic of him because my molly is ADHD and a camera hog I don't have the option of getting a quarintine tank. so I need an idea of what to do. also I was planning on moving my molly into a different tank but I don't want to if whatever the platy has is contagious.

Hello,

It sounds like the issues may be Cotton Mouth but I can't say for certain. A combination of PimaFix and Melafix should help if indeed the issue is Cotton Mouth.

Hold on for more responses. If you can post a photo of the fish, it would be a great help.

Best wishes for your fish!

Ken

Ive tried getting pics but all I have is a phone camera at the moment and when I can get a pic of him the white foamy stuff doesn't really show. I looked closely at him last night and the foam is on is bottom lip mostly and it looks like he can't actually close his mouth. I feel really bad for him and I am also really worried for my other fish

Aww I'm so sorry. I had a betta with cottonmouth and he wasn't able to recover, so you likely made the right decision. :console:

Yeah. Hopefully I will be able to breed my halfmoon betta. Trying to find a good female to pair with him
