Male Platy Chasing Female Platy

So recently I just got fish, them male fish has been chasing around my female fish. Every time my female fish tries to get near to the male, the male just tries to swim really fast and attack the female or when the female is near to the male. I suspect it's due to wanting more land or something similar to that. I also thought it was due to breeding. I have a 20 gallon tank and I think that's enough room for the both of them. I currently have 2 males and 1 female platys. The other male though doesn't seem interested in the female platy.

Just sounds like common mating behavior, usually you would want more females so the one fish doesn't get focussed on by the males. I would recommend that you get at least 3 more females, or else the single female might start to become stressed out and possibly get sick.

The problem is I don't think there old enough to start mating. There about 1.5 inches long.

1.5 inches is almost their full size, so they probably are. Platies aren't generally that territorial, especially in a twenty gallon. It's more likely he's either just being a jerk or trying to mate with her. If she keeps getting harassed a lot, maybe consider getting a few more females

Ok thanks next time I stop at the aquarium shop I'll get maybe a few plants and more female platys

He’s for sure trying to mate. As earlier post said, 1.5 inches is pretty close to full size

I believe platies can start mating at 4 months old. Our male bumble bee platy was relentless with our female red wagtail. They won’t stop until they’re successful. And he ultimately was

That's normal behavior... Or put some more fish in there or create more hiding spots for the female.
That a male won't chase a female does happen as well. In general, that's nothing to be worried about.

You need to figure out what you're going to do with the fry if you haven't yet/
