I have one male platy with three female platy. I noticed today that when any of the females get close to the male he snips at them. Is this normal? What does it mean?

Yeah, he's just showing them who he thinks is in charge. I have four girls with mine and he makes the rounds escorting them each for a few minutes with his fins all a flail. I imagine if fish could roll their eyes that the females would be doing that whenever he swoops in to "rescue" them from nothing.
