Male Plakat Or Female?

Today I went, while planning to get all of the bettas for my sorority, came home with only one betta. Most of the female bettas weren't exactly the best, but this one caught my eye. Since my sorority will be in my 36 gallon, she/he has gone into the 10 gallon until I get the rest/I confirm the gender.

So, my question is, is this betta male or female? Considering it has an egg spot (I know this can happen in males as well) and shows little gill membrane when flaring, I'm leaning towards female, but ya never know! If you need better photos/photo of something specific, I'll be able to take them tomorrow!

btw, if female her name will be Shiemi, if male, it will be Suguro

I'm not seeing an egg spot. But seeing as how the fins are longer than a normal HMPK I’d tank (yes the puns) a guess and assume it’s a female.

The egg spot is there! That was just a bad angle for it. That's comforting, though! While I hope for a few more opinions just to make sure, there's one more vote for female right there.

Female for me. I have a male that has a very BIG false egg spot but yours looks like a female. A bit older but female. (Not that she is old, just not a baby which usually female bettas are sold as) "Her" ventral fins are pretty small. Have you tried the mirror trick to see if it flares up or not yet?

Yeah, I have. It takes a while for "her" to get upset about it though. She will sorta just edge towards it and weakly flare. It's more of a "eh get awayyyy" flare then anything, if that makes sense? As I think about it, the more think Shiemi/Suguro is a female.

I am 99.99% sure "she" is too.

That's good! I' officially declare ShiemI as a gal! It's been so long since I've had a female betta <3

I'll still be keeping a watch over her though, just to make sure.
