Male Or Female Auratus?

HI All!

I have an auratus that, when I purchased it, was the usual bright yellow, white, and black stripes. In the last couple of weeks, it looks like this. Sometimes the color seems to be darker. My question is this: Is this a maturing male? If so, how long does it usually take before he (I think) has his "grown up" colors? I'm not sure if this is correct but I read that sometimes female colors will darken significantly to assert their dominance?

Thanks!!!!

It's been pretty "bossy" inside the tank as of late also.

If it’s already started changing to male coloration then it shouldn’t take too much longer for it to be sexually mature.

So this is a male? I thought so but wasn't 100% sure.

Pretty sure it’s male, especially if it’s been aggressive and digging pits.

Thank you. It's definitely aggressive towards the other tank mates. I've seen a few pits in the gravel but I'll have to watch more closely to see if he's the one doing it.
