Male Dalmatian Molly no longer interested in breeding

Male Dalmatian Molly used to chase my two females all over the place and I've had two batches of fry. He's completely lost interest and the females have not been pregnant in over 2 months. Nothing has changed in this tank in the last year. Any ideas why he stopped breeding??

Maybe old age but emeraldking would probably know the answer

Well, first of all... Old age does result in no reproduction. But if I leave that aside, female ovoviviparous livebearers (so, this includes mollies as well) have a longer gestation period than guppies do for instance. But the female herself will decide wether she'll use the stored sperm packets from a mating to fertilize het eggs or not. This means that there's no steady interval of becoming pregnant and deliver fry. If a female does have stores sperm packets in the folds of her fallopian tube, she only will open up one or more folds to release the sperm packets when she feels up to it. So, I wouldn't be worried about them. The females become pregnant when they feel up to it.
But again, it they're old, they'll stop reproducing by themselves. That's just nature.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering about old age. Was thinking of tossing a **** in there but I think I'm better off picking up another male Dalmatian tomorrow:):)
