Male Convict Washed Out

We moved our fish into our new cycled 125 gallon tank and ever since that our convict has been washed out. The numbers are good, just the same as our other tank, we made sure to wait for that before moving then. I don’t know what’s going on with him.

How long is he in new tank? If you just put him in tank turn off light for a day and tomorrow he should be fine. He is just under stress and in new environment.

What exactly do you mean by washed out? Like the person above said, he’s probably just adjusting to his new environment. There really is no point in turning off the lights, it’s more like peace of mind when you leave it off, doesn’t really help the fish like what scarface said, I believe.

In dark they feel more secure, and they don't see you or most of other fishes. So in that way they will calm down and adjust to new environment faster without lights.

It's likely that he's trying to adjust to the tank. There are some fish that will turn colors when something isn't right. For instance the JD turns brown or dark to adjust to its environment to avoid detection. I've had fish that wash out so they mix in with the substrate.

Since it's quite new to the tank, give it a few days and it will eventually start to come out.

He’s been in the new tank for about a week and a half. No other fish has shown signs of stress. He’s eating and swimming around like usual. He seems happy just a little lighter than usual.
