Male Betta Letting Most Eggs Sink And Not Picking Up

Hey. I have bred my bettas and i have separated the female already but after separation the male seems to not pick up the fallen eggs theres like 40 eggs sunken.

Is this his first time breeding? If so, he's just an inexperienced male and needs more practice. @Demeter knows more.

He’s either an old boy, not conditioned well, a first timer or just a lazy male. Sometimes it happens, nothing you can really do unless you’ve got another male tending a spawn that may welcome more eggs to care for.
