Hello I’m new to this.
I’m have a 20 gal everything fine. I have guppies now. Both male and female. For one male there was 2 females. I use to have Mickey Mouse mollies ( they where fine no chasing no nipping nothing) well I’ve noticed they have been disappearing with no trace. My males also have been aggressive. They killed off all the females (besides the babies) and my male mollie gone. I currently have 3 males , 5 babies (gender unknown for now) we do have algae eating catfishes (4) and a sand placeo (very small) I’m wondering what’s going on? The ph annemoina everything perfectly fine . They get feed 2x a day so I’m confused??

Mickey Mouse mollies? Never heard of those... Don't you mean Mickey Mouse platies?

But no matter...

Strange........ I have a few guppies, and they are breeding and fine. I'm no guppy expert or even a big lover of guppy's, don't ask why I have them. Impulse buying...... Anyway, I hope a pro answers this. That's really to bad...

I had fishes salt and fresh water all my life. Never guppies. I had guppies, mollies and a female beta all together at one point no sickness nothing. Everything was fine until about a month ago. I don’t want to buy more females if this keeps happening. My female betta kept the nipping bay. If anyone got to aggressive the beta would stop it. My catfishes are bigger but they stay at the bottom so no aggressiveness from them. I’m so confused. They are in a 5gal for 2 weeks to keep quarantined. But other than that i don’t know what’s going on. Everything was fine for a year.

Hello,

I'm afraid my experience with mollies is pretty limited. I had a few for a while, but I got tired of them following the corys around and chasing them away every time one of them found a morsel of food. Hopefully someone else will be able to help.

Very confusing, I've had male guppies kill other males as like a dominance thing, but I don't know about males killing females or females disappearing. I summon emeraldking

But no matter wether they're platies or mollies, aggressive behavior can occur in a tank. Could be dominance, could be real aggression. If it's dominance, at some point it will stop by itself. If it's real aggression, get those aggressors out of there. Or put another (semi-)aggressive species in there, so the aggression of those males will stop.
