HI guys. I just bought a small piece of malaysian wood and I have no idea how to prep it for my tank.
I know people say boil it but for how long and how many times?

You don't have to boil it. You can rinse it under hot water and put it in your tank or place it in a bucket outside for a week to let it release some tannins, changing out the water everyday. Do you care about putting tannins in your water?
Well not put, every driftwood has tannins, it never really stops releasing it. It doesn’t harm the fish.
You can add a bag of carbon or purigen to remove the tannins but I personally have never boiled driftwood. I only rinse it in hot water and place it in my tank.
Yay! Okay thanks guys. Ima rinse it and put it in the tankThe tannins are actually great for your fish. Put it in there and leave it for a few weeks, if you don't like the tea color you can take it out, do a water change and boil the wood and use some carbon in your filter to clear it up.
