I was curious if Malaysian trumpet snails can reproduce on there own? I want snails but I don’t want to risk an exploding population. Opinions?

HI welcome to FishLore.
Yes, they can reproduce on their own. Malaysian trumpet snails are synonymous with exploding snail population.
How about a Nerite?

They can and definitely will reproduce on their own. Best way to control population is by not over feeding.
I started with only 2 of them and had to hire some assassins to control my population after some time.

Yes they will reproduce and can do so very rapidly. This is especially true of any overfeeding.
I am a big fan of MTS they keep an aquarium immaculately clean and unless there is any excess food on offer or water quality starts to decline they stay hidden until the lights go off.
They are the best early warning system of declining water quality.

nerites or a single mystery snail could work since nerites can't breed in freshwater and mystery snails need both genders to breed
