Did you buy it from a lfs? I got a large piece of Malaysian from mine a while ago and they must have soaked it themselves because it has never leaked tannins. Maybe yours did as well?

What are the dimensions? Sometimes they can take days to become fully waterlogged

Yes I did buy from local lfs and I don’t believe they presoaked it it still had a tag on it and they were the ones that told me to put salt in the water barrel

Put a rock or brick on it for a couple of days.

It has been in a 35 gallon barrel with a brick on it fo four days now

It’s approximately 2 feet long and probably about a foot high it’s a pretty good size piece

Probably take 2-3 weeks.

That’s what I’ve been hearing but I’ve had large pieces before without this issue

I just put the wood in the tank, use a brick or larger rocks to keep it from floating.
In time it eventually gets so it doesn't float.

It is to large to put in tank while it is still floating I have a cement block on it now while in barrel

It really depends. I have a piece of driftwood that I've had soaking for months now. Just doesn't sink. I'll end up having to attach it to some slate to keep it anchored.

I agree, my manzanita doesn't really color the water. I use leaves for that. I just leave manzanita floating in my tank until it sinks, usually takes a week or so. But it's easier to do that in a 120g.
