Making Up A Problem Where There Isn’t One?

I recently got a betta fish (around 3 weeks ago). He is lives in a 10 gallon cycled, filtered, heated aquarium. I noticed when I got him he lacked scales/color on his head. He also had mild fin rot. A few days after he was added to the tank he also developed a few white patches on his head/body. After letting him settle in about a week, I started dosing with Kanaplex. I did 3 doses, and the patches disappeared, and his fin rot stopped progressing. Now that everything else cleared up, I am curious about his head. He has no scales near his head, and his head went from a brownish (when we first got him) to a reddish black. Is this just color changing? How healthy do you think he looks? He eats as much as he can, and DARTS around the tank 24/7. I am wondering if I am seeing a problem where there isn’t one. Does his head look normal to you? I also noticed his body color got lighter in some areas and darker in others.

Wow! The betta is the most beautiful one I have ever seen (literally!) I think the red-brown head is just because of the lighting, which can change the angle of reflection and make it seem like it's a different colour. Maybe see for a few days and then asses if there is an actual problem.

Thank you! I got lucky with his color (he was a 5$ buy at Petsmart)

Do you know if it could be velvet? I will keep you posted on his progress.

He looks perfectly healthy to me. I don't see velvet on him and it would also come along with other symptoms.
