thanks SDS
I am using FireFox.. so that good. The article says that it may be a good idea to switch to another browser til the patch for this is developed. Its easy enough for folks to download firefox or another browser in the interim.
I'm sure they will have a patch for this asap.

Yeah. But there will always be another gap in IE's security. The premise that allows the browser to interact so fluidly with web pages can be abused by people who have malicious intent.
It's a tradeoff. Prettier web pages, less secure browsing.

I have both installed but normally use IE. I switched to FireFox after I read this. I miss my spell check....can't find it on FireFox.

I'm not sure what version, I get the automatic updates. I think it updated last week.
How can I tell?
And where is spell check? When I misspell something it's underlined, but there's no auto fix?

It sounds like it. A small business that uses IE to deal with eBay sales may have its PayPal or bank account password stolen.

Edit: Lucy, if you right-click the underlined word, the top of the pop-up menu will have options for auto-fill. Select one, and the underlined word will be replaced.
And, to learn the version of Firefox, click on the "Help" menu, go down to "About Firefox," and it will list the version. This works for many programs.

Same thing with me too Lucy, when I had IE I had spell check at the top of the page, and with FireFox.. no spell check! I also just get the underline highlighted in red. I have the latest FireFox..

Oh, I see, SDS, thanks. That's going to take some getting used to.
My version of FireFox is 3.0.4

That's what I've got, too. I think it's the most recent. I've just gotten used to backspacing and retyping words that I've screwed up, but that's a habit that's been fifteen years in the making, ever since I had an old Brother word processor.

I thought my version was new, its a 3.01. Guess no sense in updating if there still is no spell check lol...

There is, it's just not up on the browser menu bar. For example, Firefox suggests Capek, capeskin, Capetian, and Capetown instead of your name. ;D

I only use Firefox unless I'm forced to use IE for some silly reason. More secure and has waaaay more features. Microsoft only know how to copy, no innovation for them. The built in spell check has been around since the 2.x version. Way before M$ came up with one.

I've got a virus (or something) that crashes my Internet Explorer as soon as I turn it on. So I haven't used it in months.

Thank you, Lucy. I believe that anyone who has Vista (shudder) and is constantly connected to the internet should have had a notice this morning that their computer needed to reboot. Mine did. I am presuming it was the patch getting downloaded automatically.
