Mail order fish

I placed an order with tank dreams on sept 3.
Just curious if anyone else had any experience with the seller.
I contacted him, took a couple days to get a reply, but I did get a reply and he answered some questions for me. Super nice guy. I placed an order on the 3rd and have received no communication from him since the 3rd. The last email was to say 1 of the fish was actually out of stock until the 10th would I wanna wait or replace it. I replied and said a different would be ok. Never heard anything back. So around the 10th when the other fish was supposed to be back in stock I sent an email saying since you haven’t shipped yet let’s just go with the original I ordered. Still no reply.
his shipping days are supposed to be Saturday or Monday/Tuesday. Since I hadn’t heard anything I sent an email this morning and asked if my order would be sent out today or tomorrow(Tuesday) still nothing.
if I dont hear something tomorrow I’m gonna just have to cancel I guess. I’ve been patient, but 11 days with zero communication is kind of pushing my limits of being patient. In 11 days I don’t think a 30 second email to say hey here’s what’s up is too much to ask for.
I don’t know what else to do. As of right now I wouldn’t recommend ordering from them. Communication is terrible and shipping is super slow without explanation. His website says if you order by Friday your order goes out that week either Saturday or Monday/Tuesday.
I ordered early Friday, actually Thursday night/Friday morning. It was Labor Day weekend though so I get it not being sent on Saturday or Monday. Tuesday should have been an option tho and if not this past Saturday or today. Or like I said just drop an email saying you’ve been delayed. I don’t get it.
has anyone else had any experience with them?
I really want the fish obviously and like I said he seems to be a really nice person, but that doesn’t matter in a business transaction.

Hey I haven't ordered life fish online, but was curious about what happened to your order? Did they send the fish, is it ok?

I still haven’t heard anything. I’m hopeful maybe I will today. If not I guess I’m gonna request a cancellation. If that doesn’t work I’ll have to contact the bank and cancel the payment.

I did a quick Google on him and it seems you are not alone with his disappearing act.
Guys also said he sent the wrong fish, fewer than what were ordered, and the bag did not arrive with oxygen in it (poor packing).

All I can say is you have more patience than I.

If I didn’t hear back the first time I would have already canceled and stopped payment. Just my .02

Hope you get your fish soon, and that they are in good shape. :) I often check this site for recommendations for reliable fish sellers/breeders. There are so many web sites out there that are selling fish/aquaria, and some of them seem pretty iffy.

Hoping for the best for you!

Update. This seller did not contact me still. Just cancelled my order. I think this qualifies as a very bad seller hahah
I don’t know what his deal is. Just immature and unprofessional or just a really bad person. Either way he didn’t have enough decency or respect to even tell me to go fly a kite. I haven’t received any refund yet so I guess it’s more waiting.
If there’s a buyer beware thread let me know. I’ll gladly share my story.

Wow. You are infinitely more patient than I am. Would’ve cancelled after two days of silence. Poor communication is unacceptable, especially when it comes to shipping live animals. Out of curiosity, what fish were you looking for?

I’m generally not a very patient person, but I’ve been trying so hard with my aquarium. And this is what I get for my efforts hahah
I had ordered panda corys and a blue zebra angel.

Oh wow, just had a look around and those angels are sold out pretty much everywhere. I wonder if that’s what happened here. There are seller review threads on the forum but you’ll have to dig for them. I’ve read horror stories about (seemingly) reputable sellers that delete bad reviews.

And haha I totally get the patience thing. I’m the type of person that will babysit a plant for six months but boil water in a microwave. The things we do for this hobby.

They actually say in stock in his website. I don’t know what his deal is. It comes of as immature and unprofessional. That’s just the vibe I get from his actions. I should have read his reviews on google and Facebook before I ordered, but I read a review on here that said they’d order from him again. So I thought I’d give him a chance. Silly me. I’m on a wait list at aquatic arts now and aqua huna are checking stock for me. I could get the panda corys but I hate buying from petco/smart. The last time I looked at their panda corys there was 10 in a tank and 9 were dead. I almost cried. So I thought I’d have better luck with mail order….

We’ve all learned this lesson at some point. . . I guess there’s enough of us that it allows folks like this to stay in business.

Yeah I think within an 11 day period he could have gotten bored enough to write a 30 second email lol if he would have just communicated with me I would have waited a while! I’m willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt but geeez. I get that things happen, especially these days. You never know if someone could be sick or what. He was sure able to cancel my order real quick tho hahah
Oh well, you’re right. We love and learn.
